how it works: our process

We start with you, the client, and take our main focus from your needs, wants and desires. We are collaborators; and we feel a great responsibility to make sure we work as a team with you and your architect or designer to bring those ideas to life.  From our first introduction, throughout the building journey, and up to the day that we put the keys in your hand, our main priority is to serve you, the client, as the people in charge of turning those dreams into a reality.

planning & design

How does that work exactly?  Typically, we join the “team” once you and your design professional have the project conceptualized and drawn into schematic plans. At that point, we can come in and start the process of estimating costs and also address any early constructability concerns.  The sooner we join the team, the earlier we can help steer the cost considerations and aid in pointing the project to maximize value.  Not working with an architect or designer yet?  No problem. We have worked with several of the Twin Cities’ area top residential design firms and we can help connect you with talented people that we know will be a great fit for your particular project or style.

the build

Once we have a full construction set of drawings, a solid cost estimate, and a contract in place, we can apply for the permit and start setting up the construction process.  Communication is key as construction begins, so we do daily updates to keep you up to speed with the work on site.  We also hold weekly meetings with you and your architect to make sure the team continues to collaborate and that everyone stays in touch with the construction process.  Throughout the course of the project we keep you informed of progress, lead times, performance targets, manage materials & selections, work through any unforeseen situations, and make sure you are kept up to date on all of the activity on site.  We are continually looking for ways to add value to the project.  We also work hard to make the process enjoyable.  The work we do is serious, and we demand high quality from ourselves and our industry partners, but we also always strive for the right balance of work and fun!
